Taconic Resources for Independence provides training for persons with disabilities who are seeking meaningful employment or who are in the process of changing careers. Our training is designed to accomplish three things:

1.  Teach you to assess your personal competencies and capabilities, and appreciate your strengths.

2.  Strengthen your self-awareness and interpersonal skills through interactive discussion and support.

3.  Provide consultation throughout your job search.

These workshops are designed for persons who have little or no work experience, or who have been out of the workforce for an extended period of time. They can be taken in succession or independently. 

•What Am I Doing and Where am I Going?

Discover how to assess your values, interests, strengths and goals in determining what career path to follow.  Your answers to workshop questions may be useful for future interviews.

 •How Do I Find the Job?

Research and explore various resume formats and cover letter narrative. Learn what you need to begin a job search; how to research online employment job websites, newspaper and other job postings; how to conduct online job searches; how to post resumes, and set up job alerts.

•How Do I Get the Job?

Become familiar with the different job interview types and various techniques of handling them.

•Job Retention

Explore the attitudes and personal qualities necessary to maintain and advance in employment.
